PANAJI: The Goa Basketball Association will organise the ASMITA Khelo India Women’s 3×3 Basketball League for Sub Junior, Junior Girls and Women, providing an opportunity for players across the state to compete and showcase their talent. The event forms part of the nationwide Khelo India initiative that aims to promote and empower women through sports.
The competition will be held across two venues in Goa. The first leg will take place on March 28, 2026 at the Youth Hostel in Miramar from 8:00 AM onwards. The second leg is scheduled for March 29, 2026 at the DBO courts in Fatorda starting from 4:00 PM.
Teams representing schools, colleges, clubs and other institutions have been invited to participate in the league. Participants may choose to compete at either the North Goa or South Goa venue depending on their location and convenience. The tournament is expected to attract young basketball players and experienced athletes from across the state.
The league will be coordinated by Andriel Fernandes for North Goa and Royston Costa for South Goa. The event will be overseen by league convenors Sonali Raut Dessai and Sandeep Heble, who will supervise the organisation and smooth conduct of the matches.
Registration for the tournament is free of cost, encouraging greater participation from aspiring players and institutions. Interested teams must complete their registration on or before March 28, 2026 through the official online registration link provided by the organisers.
The ASMITA Women’s Basketball League, which stands for Achieving Sports Milestone by Inspiring Women Through Action, is a national initiative under the Khelo India programme. It focuses on increasing women’s participation in sports at the grassroots level while creating competitive opportunities for emerging athletes.
The league includes categories ranging from Under 14, Under 16 and Under 19 to the Women’s category. The Goa edition aims to strengthen the growth of women’s basketball in the state while promoting inclusivity, healthy competition and the development of future sporting talent.
