PANAJI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Goa until July 7. In response to the alert, authorities have suspended all water sports and other tourism-related activities on the state’s beaches as a precautionary measure.
The IMD has placed Goa under an orange alert, advising residents and tourists to stay cautious as intense showers are expected to continue over the next few days. Coastal regions, in particular, are likely to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds.
The state government has directed local agencies to remain on high alert to manage potential flooding, waterlogging, and other rain-related incidents. Fisherfolk have also been advised not to venture into the sea due to rough conditions and strong winds.
According to the IMD’s forecast, moderate to heavy rain is expected almost daily, with occasional very heavy spells likely in some areas. Officials have urged people to avoid travel to risky spots, heed weather advisories, and cooperate with local authorities during this period.
