PANAJI: In a significant decision, the Goa Cabinet on Friday approved the inclusion of uninventoried mining dumps into the state’s official mining inventory, a move that will allow the government to assess, manage, and potentially auction these mineral dumps under regulated guidelines.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said the decision permits former mining leaseholders to include mineral dump ore stored outside their lease areas, provided that conversion fees and royalty payments have been duly made.
The step has been taken as part of the government’s Dump Policy, aimed at streamlining mining-related operations in Goa and ensuring proper utilization of available resources.
In addition to the mining-related decision, the Cabinet also cleared several key proposals in the health and education sectors.
These include the appointment of pharmacists on a contract basis under the Employee State Insurance (ESI) Scheme, and the recruitment of physiotherapists for the upcoming 100-bedded ESI Hospital at Margao.
The Cabinet also approved the filling of one post of Lecturer in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Goa Medical College (GMC) on a contract basis, as well as permission to fill four posts of medical officers in the GMC Blood Bank, also on contract.
In another infrastructure-related decision, the government sanctioned the repair and renovation of the veterinary hospital at Curti, which will serve as part of the upcoming New Government Veterinary College.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved a proposal to amend the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) Regulations, 2020, to streamline administrative and recruitment procedures.
