PORVORIM: In a significant boost to the state’s infrastructure and cultural landscape, the Goa Cabinet has approved three major projects under the Government of India’s support, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant announced on Tuesday.
The approved projects include the development of a town square in Porvorim at an estimated cost of ₹110 crore, the beautification of the Porvorim creek at ₹24 crore, and the construction of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum at Farmagudi in Ponda, budgeted at ₹64 crore.
“These projects will play a vital role in enhancing urban spaces, promoting tourism, and preserving our cultural heritage,” said CM Sawant, adding that the initiatives align with the government’s vision of integrated and sustainable development.
The town square in Porvorim is envisioned as a vibrant public space with modern amenities, intended to serve as a hub for community activities and events.
The Porvorim creek beautification project aims to rejuvenate the natural waterbody with landscaping, walkways, and eco-friendly infrastructure to boost recreational appeal and ecological balance.
Meanwhile, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum at Farmagudi will be developed as a state-of-the-art facility showcasing the life, legacy, and military prowess of the iconic Maratha ruler.
The museum is expected to become a major cultural and historical attraction in Ponda.
All three projects are set to be executed with central government support, underlining a strong collaborative effort between the Centre and the State in driving Goa’s developmental agenda.
