PORVORIM: The State cabinet today approved an Ordinance granting exemption to the beach shacks and other temporary structures, located along the beach belt from obtaining a construction license from the TCP department.
However, the structures and shacks will have to obtain the necessary trade license for operating their business.
Addressing a press conference, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the cabinet approved the introduction of the’ Goa Election of shacks/temporary structures across all public beaches, Regularisation and Control Ordinance 2024′, whereby these structures will require permissions only from the Department of Tourism and Environment.
“Temporary structures as well as shacks, allowed under the Tourism policy will have to seek permission from tourism and Environment departments. The ordinance will exempt them from obtaining the required construction license for their structures” said Sawant.
He said that the amendment was introduced to regulate the activities. The ordinance will benefit both the existing structures as well as those coming up in the future, he added.
The chief minister said that of late there have been a lot of issues on account of construction licenses.
The move comes against the backdrop of the High Court ordering the sealing of around 175 structures in CRZ areas operating without a required construction license, trade license, CRZ permission as well as other approvals.
The cabinet also accorded approval to 50 EV Kadamba Buses and a 10 per cent hike for Super Speciality Doctors in GMC.
The cabinet also approved the extension of Scheme for Providing Government Jobs to Children of Freedom Fighters till Feb 28, 2025, to accommodate around 30 children, who had applied under the scheme after it lapsed last year
