VASCO: A wave of pride swept across Goa as Vascokars Tanisi Vishnu Kerkar and Sarvedh Gaonkar brought home the prestigious World Prince and World Princess titles from the Tourism Ambassador Universe international 2024 event in Malaysia.
The event, held from July 3rd to 6th, saw participation from numerous countries, including Japan, Pakistan, Sarawak, Borneo, Indonesia, Sabah, and Malaysia.
The duo’s return to Goa on Monday evening was met with a heroic welcome. Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar was present to felicitate the young champions. Speaking to reporters, Salkar expressed immense pride in their achievement.
“It is indeed a proud moment for all of us because it was an international event with participation from so many countries,” Salkar remarked. “The two children from Vasco had gone for this Tourism Ambassador Universe international 2024 beauty pageant program in Malaysia. There were around 14 children from across India who participated, but both titles were won by our children from Vasco.”
Salkar highlighted the significance of their victory, not just for Goa, but for India. “The children have not only made the country proud but also the state, especially Vasco from where they belong. These children have shown that they can go to a foreign country and win titles. We need to give them exposure and many more chances.”
The MLA also praised the parents for their role in this achievement. “I congratulate the parents as well for the achievement because they have made their children capable of winning so many times at local and national levels before participating in an international event.”
Salkar assured that he would formally acknowledge their success in the upcoming assembly session. “It is our duty to encourage and motivate them,” he said. “I will also take a stand to congratulate the children in the assembly session. Their success is a testament to the talent and potential we have here in Goa.”
The triumph of Tanisi and Sarvedh serves as an inspiration, demonstrating that with the right support and opportunities, young Goans can shine on the world stage.
