MAPUSA: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant unleashed a harsh attack on the opposition Congress on Friday, accusing the party of promoting religious differences among the public and continuing governmental looting.
During a speech at a public election rally in Mapusa, Sawant was joined on stage by cabinet ministers, BJP candidates for the Lok Sabha, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, among other party officials.
Sawant criticised the opposition’s alleged history of corruption and strife, drawing attention to the difference between Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s revolutionary infrastructure projects and the Congress’s alleged mismanagement.
“What has Congress given our country over the past fifty years? Although Ramakant Khalap, the Congress candidate for North Goa, has been linked to financial misconduct, the party has also taken advantage of religious divisions, according to Sawant.
Expounding further, Sawant contrasted Modi’s emphasis on strengthening India’s infrastructure over the last ten years with the Congress’s continued maintenance of communal divisions based on religious ties.
Sawant highlighted the BJP’s dedication to progress over polarisation by saying, “While Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spearheaded the creation of world-class infrastructure, Congress has remained mired in divisive politics.”

Sawant claimed that Congress had historically neglected Goa’s growth and bemoaned the party’s alleged indifference to the state’s welfare throughout its five-decade rule.
“Despite half a century of Congress rule in Goa and at the Centre, developmental endeavours were conspicuously absent, as the party prioritised personal enrichment, particularly for the Gandhi family,” Sawant said.
