PANAJI: In a significant move to alleviate the woes of Goa’s poultry sector, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant recently convened a meeting with the All Poultry Farmers & Traders Association, along with individual poultry farmers and officials from the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services. Held in Goa, this gathering aimed to tackle several critical issues plaguing the industry.
The meeting was marked by productive discussions, focusing on key areas such as the mandatory registration of all poultry farmers and traders. This registration, to be conducted through the Panchayat, Municipality, and FDA, is intended to bring order and transparency to the sector. Another pivotal topic was the implementation of a fixed pricing structure for poultry products, which will ensure uniformity and compliance among traders, thereby stabilizing market prices.
Additionally, the meeting touched upon the coordination with GST officials to finalize tax regulations for poultry traders. This step is crucial in clarifying the tax obligations and reducing the administrative burden on traders.
These discussions underscore the government’s commitment to supporting the poultry industry, addressing its operational challenges, and ensuring a more regulated and sustainable market environment.
