SANKHALI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has urged Comunidade bodies to actively facilitate the regularisation of unauthorised houses constructed on their lands, particularly those built with the communities’ consent but without formal government approval.
Instead of taking legal action, the CM emphasized that Comunidades should collaborate with the government to legalise these properties, ensuring residents gain security and access to essential services.
The announcement was made during the distribution of application forms for the Mhaje Ghar Scheme in the Sankhali constituency.
CM Sawant highlighted that the government has implemented a 20% penalty for owners seeking regularisation, as an incentive for compliance.
Facilities have been arranged to help applicants understand the scheme, and groups can submit forms collectively to simplify the process.
Under the scheme, houses along roadsides will be regularised, and families living together in the same house will be assigned separate house numbers, enabling better access to electricity, water, and sanitation services.
CM Sawant noted that these measures aim to reduce familial disputes and provide peace of mind to residents.
The CM also referred to the Atal Aasra Yojana, under which no-objection certificates for house repairs are to be issued within three days, further easing the process for homeowners.
Hundreds of villagers attended the event and received application forms for the initiative.
The Mhaje Ghar Scheme forms part of the state government’s larger effort to regularise unauthorised dwellings, granting legal recognition to residents and ensuring access to basic amenities and housing security.
Residents are encouraged to contact their local Panchayat or Municipal offices for more information on the scheme and application process.
