PORIEM: The decision made by Sattari Deputy Collector Pallavi Mishra in the dispute that arose over the worship of Sakhaleshwar, the guardian of the Shri Bhumika Devi Temple, has drawn criticism from the Gaonkar community.
The injustice done to the Gaonkar community was brought to the attention of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday.
According to the community’s residents, the Chief Minister has promised that the Deputy Collector will handle things lawfully. With a significant police presence, the festival was held in a pleasant manner on Saturday. The region surrounding Poriem Devasthan is currently under strict surveillance. There is strict security in place at several locations, led by DYSP Jivba Dalvi.
Pallavi Mishra brought a lawsuit against five individuals. This is what the local cops were told to do. As a result, five individuals have been charged overall. In a same vein, Section 144 was enforced on Poriem Devasthan grounds in order to avoid conflict during the customary Gavalan Kala celebration on Sunday and the traditional Saptha celebration on Saturday.
It was mandated that the temple remain shuttered until December 24. Other than the Gaonkar community, this directive was fiercely opposed. The current state of affairs in other regions is entirely under control.
At the same time, the traditional saptha of the Shri Bhumika Sakhaleshwar temple was enthusiastically celebrated. Throughout the saptha, a sizable police presence was present.
After the process of filing a case against five members of the Majik Mahajan group, which included closing the temple and imposing Section 144, about a thousand Sevakari Mahajans demonstrated vehemently throughout the night on Friday. The Deputy District Magistrate then revoked the directive. As a result, Saturday was dedicated to celebrating the customary saptha.
