PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has assured that the long-standing taxi issue in Goa would be resolved at the earliest, with the government committed to taking all stakeholders into confidence.
“The taxi issue will be resolved as soon as possible. We are working on a solution that includes everyone’s interest,” Sawant said, amid rising demands for a regulated and fair system that balances tourism needs with local livelihoods.
The CM’s assurance comes in the wake of repeated protests and concerns raised by taxi operators over regulations, app-based services, and fare structures. He emphasized that the government is keen on arriving at a consensus to ensure a sustainable model for both operators and tourists.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister confirmed that the Cabinet has approved the establishment of a Unity Mall in Chimbel under a Central government scheme aimed at promoting local products and crafts. “A work order has already been issued. This project will boost local entrepreneurship and showcase Goa’s unique offerings under the ‘One District, One Product’ initiative,” Sawant said.
On another front, the CM also confirmed that issues raised by doctors at Goa Medical College (GMC) have been resolved. “Their demands have been addressed, and I’ve spoken to the Health Minister to ensure the matter is closed,” he added.
The government’s focus on resolving key issues in transport, healthcare, and infrastructure reflects a broader push for stability and development ahead of the upcoming budget session.
