Panaji: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting to review the implementation of the TB Mukta Bharat Abhiyan in Goa, in the presence of Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Health Secretary, Director of Health Services, Head of the TB program, senior doctors, and other officials.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister approved the purchase of handheld X-ray machines for tuberculosis detection through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal, aiming to enhance early diagnosis capabilities across the state.
Key issues discussed included screening for TB at the Panchayat level, defining parameters to declare Goa a TB-free state, and rolling out comprehensive programs and awareness drives for identification, monitoring, and support of TB patients. Emphasis was also placed on ensuring the provision of nutritious food to those undergoing treatment.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Sawant reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicating TB from the state through sustained, coordinated efforts and strengthened healthcare infrastructure.
