PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant launched and flagged off the ceremony of Mitti Kalash of 12 Talukas of the State of Goa to the National Capital at New Delhi for Meri Maati Mera Desh Campaign organised by the Department of Panchayat in the City.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister said despite the different languages, religions, cultures, and traditions among the people of India, there is a sense of unity and coexistence. This concept of unity in diversity is an integral part of the Indian culture, he said and stressed the need to maintain national integration of the State.
Briefing about the campaign, the Chief Minister said the campaign is launched to honour the martyred brave hearts. Programmes have been organised across India in memory of those who laid down their lives for the country. He further said that this ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’ carrying soil in 7500 urns from every corner of the country will reach Delhi, the capital of the country. It will also carry saplings from different parts of the country. ‘Amrit Vatika’ will be built near the National War Memorial by fusing the soil and saplings that would arrive in 7500 urns.
Pandit, Catholic Priest and Imam performed religious rituals on the occasion.
Chief Minister urged all the panchas to organize Ekta Daud at high schools, schools and also urged them to participate in /Rally Ekta Daud to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabai Patel on October 31. Panchayat and Municipality are playing a major role to make Goa Swayampurna, he stated.
Minister for Panchayat Shri Mauvin Godinho also spoke on the occasion.
Present on the occasion were Minister for PWD Nilesh Cabral, Minister for Power Shri Ramkrishna alias Sudhin Dhavlikar, Minister for IT and Tourism Shri Rohan Khaunte, Rajyasabha MP Sadanand Tanawade, Dr Deviya Rane, Shri Rajesh Faldessai, Shri Sankalp Amonkar, Shri Ulhas Tuenkar, Shri Rohit Monserrate, Mayor, City Corporation of Panaji (CCP), Panchayat Secretary Shri Menino D’Souza along with other dignitaries.
The Directorate of Art and Culture has organized various cultural programmes. Shri Nyan Jyoti Kala Mandal performed the Folk dance Fugdi, and Kelbai Lokmandh Keri Sattari performed Samay Nutrya. Artists also performed Ganesh Vandana and Ghode Modini.
Smt Sidhi Upadhye and Shri Pradip Naik compered the function.
