PANAJI: Chier Minister Pramod Sawant today has issued a stern warning against littering, particularly by industries and hotels.
“Stricter action will be taken against those found littering the surroundings. Everyone to refrain from using plastic bags and instead carry their own reusable bags to reduce plastic waste,’ said Sawant
Chief Minister also directed all the contractors responsible for waste collection from hotels and industries, to register their total waste collection along with disposal location with co-concerned Panchayats or Solid Waste Management authorities.
Sawant stated that the village panchayats must carry out the garbage segregation and issue circulars to hotels and shacks.
The Chief Minister has asked all village panchayats to appoint contractors compulsorily and to empanel them with Goa Waste Management Corporation. The panchayats have asked to erect sheds and have also been given a schedule to streamline the process within next two months.
