VITHALAPUR: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant joined devotees and residents on the banks of the River Valavanti on Thursday to celebrate Tripurari Pournima, a festival that symbolises the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said it was a great joy and honour to participate in this traditional Goan celebration that beautifully reflects the spirit of the State.
“This unique Goan tradition with illuminated boats, floating lamps, prayers and music truly reflects the soul of our land. Goa is known across the world for its scenic beauty, but it is our culture, heritage, temples, rivers, folk arts and community spirit that give Goa its true identity,” Dr. Sawant said.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting Goa’s rich cultural heritage. “On this auspicious evening, as the lamps float across the river carrying prayers and hope, let us renew our pledge to protect our culture, our rivers and our Goan identity. May this divine light guide us towards unity, peace, and prosperity,” he added.
The celebration of Tripurari Pournima at Vithalapur drew large crowds, with devotees, local artists and visitors gathering along the riverbanks to witness the illuminated boats and traditional performances marking the festive occasion.
