Valpoi: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant laid the foundation stone for a new two-lane bridge connecting Davem and Sanvordem villages in Sattari, in the presence of Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, MLA Deviya Rane and other dignitaries.
The project, being undertaken by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) for the Public Works Department at an estimated cost of ₹29.93 crore, will feature a modern two-lane bridge with footpaths on both sides, improved approach roads and LED street lighting to ensure safer pedestrian and vehicular movement.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the new bridge would replace the existing narrow single-lane structure and significantly improve connectivity for residents of the area. “This is a much-needed infrastructure upgrade for Sattari. Once completed, the bridge will ease congestion, enhance safety and reduce travel distance by nearly 7 to 8 kilometres for those travelling towards Ponda and South Goa. It will also help commuters bypass the busy Valpoi market stretch,” Sawant said.
He further stated that the project would not only improve convenience for daily commuters but also strengthen local mobility and economic activity in nearby villages. “Our government remains committed to strengthening infrastructure, improving last-mile connectivity and ensuring all-round development across Goa,” the Chief Minister added.
The bridge is expected to provide long-term benefits to residents of Davem, Sanvordem and surrounding areas by improving access to key towns and reducing travel time.
