PORVORIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today said Goa is working towards positioning itself among the leading states in the education sector, with a strong focus on academic standards, infrastructure modernisation and skill-oriented learning aligned with national priorities.
Speaking at the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE), Sawant said the Board has maintained a high level of credibility and will continue to set benchmarks in the preparation of question papers and evaluation systems.
He added that school infrastructure must be upgraded to be future-ready, in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The Chief Minister highlighted the responsibility of teachers in identifying students’ aptitude and guiding them towards appropriate career pathways.
He said not all students need to pursue conventional professional courses and stressed the importance of encouraging skilling, reskilling and vocational education to meet evolving workforce demands.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, also speaking at the event, said the Goa Board has adapted with changing times and welcomed the transition of Class X education towards the National Education Policy (NEP) framework.
He said the move reflects the Board’s commitment to strengthening foundational education and aligning it with national development goals.
