PORVORIM: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant called upon government employees to adopt a citizen-centric approach in governance, emphasizing that the government exists to serve the people.
He was addressing a gathering at the inauguration of the workshop on ‘iGoT Karmayogi and its registration process’ held at the Secretariat, Porvorim.
The workshop was organised by the Department of Personnel in collaboration with the Goa Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (GIPARD), and attended by Heads of Departments and senior government officials.
Dr. Sawant highlighted the importance of the ‘iGoT Karmayogi’ digital platform, which offers civil servants a range of courses aimed at enhancing skills and capacity. “It will be mandatory for all government employees in Goa to register on this platform,” the Chief Minister announced, adding that the initiative is crucial for creating a future-ready workforce.
He noted that the platform promotes a shift from rule-based to role and resource-based governance and praised its “anytime, anywhere” learning model for its flexibility and effectiveness. “This competency-based learning will strengthen the skill set of every employee and improve governance,” he added.
Chief Secretary Dr. V. Candavelou, IAS, also addressed the gathering, stating that the platform empowers civil servants for efficient public service delivery while ensuring democratized and decentralized access to skill training.
Director General of GIPARD, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, emphasized the need for competitiveness and skills development as core components of the Atma Nirbhar Bharat vision.
Chief Operating Officer of iGoT India, Shri Rakesh Verma, described the platform as a transformative tool that turns employees from “karmachari” to “karmayogi”. He underlined the importance of blended learning and noted that courses are tailored to meet specific state-level needs.
The event also saw the launch of the Training, Planning and Management Software (TPMS) and a booklet of Prison Recommendations.
