PANAJI: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has appealed to labour unions in the state to prioritize dialogue over demonstrations as a means of resolving workplace concerns.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Sawant reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting labour rights and addressing workers’ grievances through constructive engagement. “Dialogue, not disruption, is the way forward,” he stated, encouraging unions to work collaboratively with the administration.
He assured that his government remains attentive to the welfare of workers and is prepared to act swiftly on any genuine and lawful demands brought to its attention.
The Chief Minister’s remarks come amid growing discontent among certain labour groups over job security and workplace conditions. The government is aiming to defuse tensions by fostering open lines of communication and involving stakeholders in the policymaking process.
Officials confirmed that efforts are underway to initiate discussions with union leaders, with the goal of finding practical, long-term solutions that uphold workers’ rights without disrupting public services or economic activity.
