PANAJI: Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane reaffirmed the state’s commitment to intensifying efforts towards Tuberculosis (TB) elimination, following his participation in a high-level review meeting chaired by Union Health Minister JP Nadda.
The meeting focused on the progress and roadmap for TB and Measles-Rubella elimination across states, as part of the Government of India’s health priorities.
Taking to social media after the meeting, Rane expressed gratitude for Nadda’s leadership and said Goa would scale up efforts through a multi-pronged strategy.
“Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Union Health Minister JP Nadda , Goa is committed to intensifying the TB Elimination Campaign through Jan Bhagidari (people’s participation), enhanced NAAT testing, and strengthened implementation of the Nikshay Poshan Yojana,” he stated.
Highlighting Goa’s resolve to meet national targets, Rane said the state will focus on comprehensive testing, active surveillance, and community-driven awareness to reduce both incidence and mortality due to TB.
“We are determined to make Goa TB-free, and will ensure full community engagement, early detection, and nutritional support to patients through robust use of technology and welfare schemes,” he added.
India aims to eliminate TB by 2025, five years ahead of the global SDG target. Goa’s renewed push under central guidance marks a crucial step toward this national health milestone.
