DONAPAULA: Congress President Amit Patkar today said that his party will lead Morcha to Raj Bhavan if Governor fails to act against the illegalities of land conversions and hill cuttings.
GPCC Delegation led by Amit Patkar, LoP Yuri Alemao and LS MP Captain Viriato Fernandes and MLA Carlos Ferreira submitted a memorandum to the Goa Governor requesting to conduct inquiry CS Puneet Kumar Goel purchasing land in Aldona villager and later illegally converting it.
“If Governor fails to act against the illegalities of Land Conversions & Hill Cuttings, Congress will launch strong protests across Goa including Morcha on Raj Bhavan,” said Patkar.
Patkar further said that Congress will escalate this issue to the Governor of Goa, seeking his urgent intervention. Additionally, we will take this fight to all 40 constituencies, raising awareness about the BJP ’s ongoing injustices against Goans.
“CS Punit Goel has a history of corruption, Congress has given 8 days to the Governor to take action,” said Patkar.
Patkar alleged that Goel was involved in the illegal conversion of land at Aldona village in the North Goa district.
He said that the IAS officer had purchased a property worth Rs 2.64 crore at Aldona village, built on land which was originally paddy fields, he claimed.
MLA Carlos said that the entire BJP government and its officers are involved in corrupt practices and alleged that many such land parcels were being illegally converted in the coastal state, and people close to BJP leaders were involved in such malpractices.
“The chief secretary has not converted a single inch of land in the state and has never come asking for any favour,” he said.
Speaking on Atmaram Barve’s appointment as SIC, Yuri Alemao said that a deadline of 24 hours given to the Chief Minister to reverse the decision of appointing his OSD and BJP Member Atmaram Barve as State Information Commissioner has come to an end.
“I have escalated the matter to the Governor of Goa P.S. Sreedharan Pillai requesting the removal of SIC Atmaram Barve immediately to preserve the sanctity of the institution of State Information Commission and to uphold the principle of natural justice,” he said.
He said as a member of the committee he has strongly objected to Barve’s appointment in the meeting, minutes of which will come to the Governor of Goa for signing.
“BJP State president Sadanand Shet Tanavade himself had posted on social media that Barve is a grassroots worker of BJP, RSS, which violates the rules of appointment of SIC,” he said.
