PANAJI: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Amit Patkar has alleged large-scale bogus voter registrations in the state and demanded immediate action from the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Patkar said that during a verification drive at a residence in Dempo Bhat, it was found that while a family named Gomes resides there, voter rolls also list four others — Arjun Nepali, Dal Bahadur, Minbhadar Kotkeni and Khadak Jaigadi — who do not live at the address.
“Can citizens of Nepal possess an Indian Voter ID and vote in our elections without Indian citizenship? If yes, under what law? If not, how did these names get into the electoral rolls?” Patkar asked, alleging a deliberate attempt to manipulate elections.
Calling it “only the beginning,” Patkar said the party will expose more such cases across Goa in the coming days and press for strict action against officials responsible. “The people of Goa deserve clean elections, not voter lists filled with ghost entries and foreign nationals,” he said.
