PANAJI: The Goa Pradesh Youth Congress (GPYC) today staged a protest against the rising unemployment among Goans, demanding immediate measures to create job opportunities for local youth.
The demonstration, led by GPYC president Archit Naik, was held near Azad Maidan in Panaji. However, the protesters were stopped by police as they attempted to proceed further. Panaji police intervened and detained five protesters, including Archit Naik, to prevent any law-and-order situation.
Addressing the media, GPYC leaders said the protest was aimed at highlighting the lack of employment opportunities for Goan youth. They accused the government of failing to safeguard jobs for locals despite repeated assurances.
The Youth Congress demanded that the state government take immediate and concrete steps to address unemployment and ensure jobs for Goans. The GPYC also warned that the agitation would be intensified if their demands continue to be ignored.
