New Delhi: Goa’s Mormugao Port recorded a passenger footfall of 67,594 cruise tourists and revenue of nearly ₹4.82 crore from 38 cruise vessels between October 2024 and June 2025, the Union government informed the Rajya Sabha.
Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, said in a written reply to a question raised by Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade
Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal said the figures reflect Goa’s growing role under the Cruise Bharat Mission (CBM), launched on September 30, 2024, to position India as a global cruise hub.
The CBM provides an inter-ministerial framework covering policy, regulatory and infrastructure aspects of cruise tourism, while ensuring coordination among agencies including Customs, Immigration, CISF, State Tourism Departments, district administrations and local police.
Sonowal said the mission aims to generate four lakh jobs by 2029, spurring employment and opportunities for local entrepreneurs in allied sectors such as hospitality and transport. Goa, he added, is among the key beneficiaries of the initiative, with dedicated funds for cruise terminal upgrades, coastal infrastructure, and tourism services.
