Mopa: The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Goa Customs at Manohar International Airport (MOPA) has seized 9.036 kilograms of hydroponic cannabis, valued at approximately ₹3.16 crore in the illicit market, from a passenger arriving from Bangkok via Tashkent.
Acting on specific intelligence, AIU officers intercepted the passenger upon arrival and carried out a detailed examination of his checked-in baggage.
During the search, officers recovered the contraband concealed beneath clothes inside the suitcase. The seized substance was tested using the NDPS field testing kit, which confirmed it to be cannabis (hydroponic weed).
The entire quantity of 9.036 kg of the banned substance was seized, and the passenger was arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Further investigation is currently underway to identify the network behind the smuggling attempt.
Goa Customs stated that it remains committed to its mission of building a “Nasha Mukt Bharat” and will continue to take strict action against drug trafficking through airports and other entry points.
