PONDA: Goa Dairy Farmers demanded the Government handover Goa Dairy Administration to farmer appointed Board/Chairman immediately.
The Goa Dairy farmers question the delay over the election for Goa Dairy Chairman. They are unhappy that still Administrator ruling Goa Dairy. According to farmers, Goa Dairy’s financial condition became delicate during the Administrator’s tenure for the past three and half years and now want farmer appointed Chairman of Goa Dairy.
The Goa Dairy Election for BoD was held last month on19 June, and the results were declared on 20 June. Though RCS, in its order dated 27 June, directed the presiding officer to conduct an election for Goa Dairy Chairman and office bearers, the election dates are not declared, and now fifteen days have passed.
Farmers questioned over delay in holding an election for Chairman. They are unhappy as Goa Dairy is going through Financial Crisis, the milk sale is also reduced from 65 thousand to 48 thousand per day, and the cattle feed plant is stopped functioning for the past fifteen days, due to which they are forced to buy cattle feed from vendors distant places without a credit facility.
It may be recalled that the Rajesh Faldesai panel was elected by winning 9 seats out of 12 in Goa Dairy Board Election, and now Presiding Officer needs to conduct an election for the Chairman of the Goa Dairy Board.
It is learnt from farmers that Assistant Election Officer and Ass. Registrar of Cooperative Societies, in an order on27 June, had given the order to Raju Magdum Special Auditor South Zone Margao as presiding officer to conduct the election of office bearers within thirty days of the date of declaration of results.
It may be recalled that After RCS disqualified the seven BoDs of Goa Dairy in 2019, it also dissolved Goa Dairy Board and appointed an Administrator for the past three and half years. The Election for Goa Dairy BoD for tenure 2022-2027 was held on 19 June, and even though results were declared, the farmers want now Goa wanted Dairy to be managed by farmers appointed Goa Dairy Board and Chairman.
The farmers are unhappy over the Administrator’s tenure as Goa Dairy could not progress during the Administrator period; instead, its financial condition became weak. Farmers said the Goa Dairy Cattlefeed plant stopped working last month as Goa Dairy has no money to buy raw materials for cattle feed plants.
