DELHI: As part of preparations for the International Purple Festival – Goa 2025, a delegation from Goa led by Hon’ble Minister for Social Welfare and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Subhash Phal Dessai, and State Commissioner Guruprasad Pawaskar visited New Delhi to extend formal invitations to senior Union Ministers and key state leaders.
During the visit, the delegation met with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Home Minister Shri Ashish Sood, and Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Singh (Indraj).
The Goa team invited them to participate in the festival, to be held from October 9 to 12, 2025, and discussed key issues concerning the welfare of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).
Both states explored collaboration on disability inclusion initiatives, including policy exchange and the possibility of hosting a similar event in Delhi. Also present were senior officials from the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, ALIMCO, and the office of the Chief Commissioner for PwDs.
With the theme “Universal Design – Inclusive Thinking in Action,” the Purple Festival 2025 aims to set a national benchmark for accessibility and inclusion.
