PANAJI: The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Goa, will begin accepting applications for admissions to professional degree programmes, including engineering, pharmacy, and medical courses, from May 7.
The application process will remain open until May 16. Following the discontinuation of the Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET) last year, admissions to engineering and pharmacy courses will now be based on scores from the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main), while medical admissions will rely on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) scores.
The JEE Main results were declared in February-March, and nearly 5,000 students from Goa appeared for the NEET exam, which was conducted nationwide on Sunday. Due to concerns over previous paper leaks and irregularities, NEET 2024 was held under tight security, with monitoring by District Collectors and Superintendents of Police across the country, including Goa.
Applicants can submit their forms at various centers including the PES Pharmacy College in Farmagudi, the four private engineering colleges located in Assagao, Verna, Fatorda, and Shiroda, and at the DTE headquarters in Porvorim. Goa offers approximately 1,600 engineering seats and 200 MBBS seats at the Goa Medical College (GMC).
