PANAJI: Goa has been recognised as a Best Performer for developing a strong startup ecosystem under the States’ Startup Ecosystem Ranking Category B, an initiative designed to assess and encourage innovation-driven entrepreneurship across the country. The ranking places the state among the top performers for its consistent efforts in nurturing startups through policy support, institutional strength, and measurable outcomes.
The national ranking framework evaluates all states and Union Territories across categories defined by population and performance. It measures progress across several critical areas including startup-friendly policies, institutional mechanisms, infrastructure availability, access to funding, market linkages, capacity building initiatives, and promotion of innovation-led growth. The assessment is widely regarded as one of the most detailed evaluations of startup ecosystems in India.
The recognition was announced during the National Startup Day celebrations held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The Certificate of Appreciation was received on behalf of the Government of Goa by senior officials from the Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications and the Startup and IT Promotion Cell, marking a significant milestone for the state’s innovation landscape.
The achievement reflects sustained and strategic efforts by the state to create an enabling environment for startups at every stage of their journey. Through progressive policies, structured institutional support, and close collaboration with industry, academia, and ecosystem partners, Goa has steadily built a framework that supports entrepreneurs from ideation and incubation to scaling and market expansion.
This national recognition was also acknowledged in the Goa Legislative Assembly, where the state’s leadership highlighted the collective contribution of government departments, institutions, and the startup community in reaching this milestone. The acknowledgement reinforced the importance of coordinated efforts in driving long-term ecosystem development.
The award underlines Goa’s growing stature as a dynamic and innovation-driven startup destination. It also reaffirms the state’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship that generates economic impact, creates opportunities, and promotes inclusive growth.
