PANAJI: The Economic Offences Cell (EOC) of Goa Police has registered an FIR against Prakash Motwani, Lata Prakash Motwani—both residents of Mumbai—and six others for allegedly defrauding a Mumbai resident of over ₹4 crore.
According to the police, the accused promised the victim high returns on an investment in a hotel project located in Candolim.
The victim was allegedly lured with assurances of profitable returns, but the investment turned out to be fraudulent.
The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code relating to cheating and criminal breach of trust. Investigations are underway to ascertain the full extent of the scam and the involvement of all accused.
Police have urged anyone with information related to the case to come forward and assist with the investigation.
