PANAJI: In a significant step towards integrating traditional healing practices with modern healthcare, Goa’s Health Minister Vishwajit Rane inaugurated the Panchakarma Centre at South Goa District Hospital on Wednesday. This initiative marks a pivotal moment in enhancing the state’s healthcare infrastructure, particularly in the realm of holistic wellness. Located in the heart of South Goa, this centre is not only a testament to the region’s commitment to innovative healthcare solutions but also a reflection of its dedication to providing comprehensive wellness options for its residents.
The Panchakarma Centre, established under the Innovation Head of the National AYUSH Mission, stands out as the most spacious and advanced facility of its kind among all DHS healthcare centres. Minister Rane highlighted the centre’s unique features, stating, “It is a moment of great pride to inaugurate the Panchakarma Centre at South Goa District Hospital, a significant step towards integrating traditional healing with modern healthcare.” The centre’s inclusion of Aromatherapy and Music Therapy sets it apart by addressing mental health concerns such as stress, insomnia, anxiety, and depression, thereby offering a holistic approach to wellness.
The inauguration event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Dr Rupa Naik, Director of the Directorate of Health Services (DHS), Dr Minal Joshi, Deputy Director of Ayush, Dr Rajnanda Desai, OSD to the Health Minister, Dr Rajendra Borkar, Medical Superintendent of South Goa District Hospital, and Dr Mahesh Verlekar, Nodal Officer for the National AYUSH Mission and FDA State Licensing Authority.
