Panaji: The Government of India has conferred the Bronze Disc Medal and a Commendation Certificate on Shri Nitin V. Raiker, Director of the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services, in recognition of his outstanding leadership in managing major fire and emergency situations across Goa. The award will be formally presented on Independence Day, August 15, 2025, as part of Fire Prevention Week observances held from April 14–20, 2025.
Raiker began his career on January 3, 1991, as an Assistant Station Fire Officer, steadily rising through the ranks to become Director. He is a Gold Medalist in the Divisional Officers Course and has also completed advanced training at the Fire Service College, Moreton-in-Marsh, UK, under a Ministry of Home Affairs programme.
His career highlights include playing a key role in the 2001 Gujarat earthquake relief operations, for which he received commendation certificates from the Gujarat Government and the Indian Red Cross Society. He was honoured with the Chief Minister’s Fire Service Medal in 2008 and the President’s Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service in 2024.
Over 35 years of service, Raiker has led the state’s firefighting and rescue operations with distinction, earning multiple awards and commendations for his dedication to public safety.
