MANDREM: The Goa Forward Party (GFP) has suspended Advocate Amit Sawant following complaints alleging his involvement with land mafia networks and individuals linked to the State BJP Government.
According to party sources, the allegations pertain to land dealings and conversion activities in Mandrem constituency and Pernem taluka.
The GFP emphasized that protecting land is central to its ideology, and Sawant’s alleged actions were seen as undermining the party’s core principles ahead of the upcoming Zilla Panchayat elections.
The party also noted that repeated warnings from local residents were a key factor in taking the disciplinary action.
Deepak Kalangutkar, President of North Goa District for GFP, confirmed the suspension and reiterated the party’s commitment to safeguarding land rights in the state.
