PANAJI: Goa is set for a thrilling day of badminton as the All India Malayalee Association – Goa Unit, in partnership with the Goa Badminton Association, hosts a dynamic State Badminton Team Championship on Sunday, December 7, at the Indoor Stadium in Campal. The one-day league-format event will bring together eight franchise-owned teams competing for top prizes, including ₹70,000 for the winners and ₹40,000 for the runners-up, along with prestigious trophies.
The participating teams include Born Stars led by Chinmay Fallary, Icy Ice Legends represented by Sameer Redkar and Arijeet Raikar, Viva Smashers under Santosh Kamat and Divyesh Shirsat, Power Smashers headed by Nitin Mayekar, Bling Rangers guided by Saiesh Prabhu, Tax Gladiators managed by Lee Ferrao, Magic Touch led by Rajesh Repal, and Margao High Flyers captained by Ehrlick de Ataide.
Goa’s leading shuttlers will take centre stage, promising fast-paced rallies and strong competition. Among the top players expected to feature are Shaheen CK, Arjun Fallary, Aryaman Saraf, Aswin M, Kamlesh Kanji, Tejan Fallary, Sanath Kamat, Ayaan Shaikh, Jatinder Singh, Floyd Araujo, Navneet Nasnodkar, Anaya Kamat, Aarya Metri and Riya Haldankar. Emerging talents from outdoor circuits, including Divyesh Sirsat, Avdhut Saptoji, Mohammad Nadaf and Siraj Wadkar, will also add depth and youthful energy to the contest.
Organisers highlighted the championship as an important step in strengthening the sport’s presence across the state. They noted that the tournament aims to create a vibrant platform where teamwork, competitive spirit and community engagement come together. They also expressed confidence that the format will evolve into a flagship annual event within the Goa Badminton Association calendar, helping foster local talent and elevate the profile of badminton in Goa.
