PANAJI: Goa’s young cricketers continued their strong run at the 30th Sub-Junior National Tennis Ball Cricket Championship being held in Dausa, Rajasthan, from October 14 to 17, 2025. The Goa girls’ team stormed into the final with an unbeaten record, while the boys booked a place in the semifinals after a series of impressive wins on Day 3 of the tournament.
In the girls’ league stage, Goa began their campaign with a dominant seven-wicket win over Kerala. Bowling first, Goa restricted Kerala to 22 runs in six overs, with Ayushi Shrivastav, Sandhya Rai, and Purva Gawde sharing the wickets. In response, Goa chased down the target in just 2.5 overs as Purva remained unbeaten on 10 and Tanisha Velip added 9 not out.
Continuing their fine form, the Goan girls defeated Telangana by 28 runs in the next league match. Batting first, Goa posted 56 for 2 with crucial contributions from Purva Gawde (12), Teja Velip (10), Antara Naik (15 not out), and Sonali Velingkar (12 not out). The bowlers then sealed the victory, restricting Telangana to 28 for 4, with Tanisha Velip taking 2 wickets and Ayushi and Sandhya picking one each.
In the knockout stage, Goa overcame Pondicherry in the quarterfinal, chasing down 42 runs with ease in 4.2 overs. Purva (15 not out) and Tanisha (16 not out) guided the team home. The semifinal against Chhattisgarh saw another clinical performance as Goa chased 38 runs in just 3.5 overs to win by eight wickets, with Purva top-scoring with 20 not out and Rakhi Giri adding 10.
Meanwhile, the Goa boys also put up a spirited show to enter the semifinals. In the pre-quarterfinal, they beat Haryana by six wickets. Tanay Gawas was the standout bowler with three wickets, while Usman Karol (12 not out) and Avnish Naik (17) steered the chase. In the quarterfinal against Vidarbha, Goa restricted their opponents to 35 for 5, with Usman claiming three wickets. He later returned to finish unbeaten on 16 alongside Joshua Godlikar (10 not out) as Goa sealed a five-wicket win and a spot in the last four.
