Panaji: The Government of Goa has prohibited strikes in any form in all transport services involved in the carriage of passengers or goods by land or water across the State, with immediate effect.
The order has been issued by the Department of Home (General) in exercise of powers conferred under Section 3(1) of the Goa Essential Services Maintenance Act, 1988 (Goa Act No. 20 of 1989), after the government was satisfied that such action is necessary in the interest of public safety and essential services.
As per the order, any strike action affecting transport services operating within the State of Goa is strictly barred. The move aims to ensure uninterrupted movement of passengers and essential goods and to prevent inconvenience to the public.
The order will remain valid for a period of six months from the date of its issue, unless withdrawn earlier.
The notification, dated February 05, 2026, has been issued by order and in the name of the Governor of Goa and signed by Manthan Manoj Naik, Under Secretary (Home-I).
Authorities have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the order during the validity period.
