AGUADA: Goa’s newly appointed Governor, Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju, on Thursday visited the Aguad Port and Jail Complex at Sinquerim, a 400-year-old heritage site restored to showcase Goa’s colonial past and the people’s struggle for liberation.
Accompanied by historian Sanjeev Sardessai, the Governor was taken on a guided tour of the complex, which includes the Aguad Interactive Museum. Sardessai shared detailed insights on the history of the 17th-century site, highlighting its cultural and historical importance.
“The Governor was pleased to witness first-hand the various aspects on display at the heritage complex, including the Aguad Interactive Museum,” said Savio Mathias, Vice President, Operations and Business Development, Aguad Port and Jail Complex.
At the museum, the Governor explored sections such as the People and Culture wing, which documents Goa’s freedom movement and provides glimpses into everyday life during colonial times.
This was the Governor’s first visit to the complex since assuming office, marking a symbolic connection with Goa’s heritage and its enduring legacy of resilience and freedom.
