GOA: In a significant effort to strengthen communal harmony and invoke collective blessings for the welfare of all Goans, Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai embarked on the “Khushal Kalyan Yatra,” visiting multiple religious sites across North Goa today. The initiative reflects a deep commitment to fostering unity in diversity, bringing together communities through shared prayers and goodwill.
Starting with visits to the revered Shree Chamundeshwari Temple at Vargao, Pilgao, and Shree Devi Lairai Temple at Shirgao in Bicholim, the Governor was warmly received by temple authorities and local leaders.
His presence, along with the First Lady of Goa, Smt. Rita Shreedharan Pillai, underscored the message that spiritual well-being and social progress go hand in hand.
The Governor’s visit also included Milagres Church in Mapusa, where he engaged with Christian community leaders, including Deputy Speaker Shri Joshua De Souza and Fr. Leonardo Moraes, further emphasizing the inclusiveness of the Yatra.
“Khushal Kalyan Yatra is more than a religious journey; it is a symbol of Goa’s rich cultural fabric where every community contributes to the state’s peace and prosperity,” said a senior official from the Governor’s Secretariat.
Having successfully completed several previous yatras such as Goa Gram Sampurna Yatra and Goa Giriarohan Yatra, this initiative aims to cover temples, churches, dargahs, and gurudwaras throughout Goa’s talukas, seeking blessings for peace, happiness, and holistic development.
In recognition of the cultural and spiritual significance of the visited sites, the Governor was felicitated with traditional honours and presented financial support to Devasthan Samitis, reflecting a blend of respect and responsibility.
The ‘Khushal Kalyan Yatra’ stands as a testament to the Governor’s vision of a united Goa, where faith and governance intertwine to uplift every section of society.
