Panaji: The Government of Goa has categorically denied rumours and misinformation being circulated regarding the alleged shutdown of civilian operations at Goa International Airport.
In an official press note, the Government clarified that there is no proposal, plan, or intention to discontinue civilian operations at Dabolim Airport. It emphasised that the airport continues to play a crucial role in maintaining connectivity, supporting tourism, facilitating trade, and sustaining livelihoods, particularly in South Goa.
The statement further reiterated that the Government remains fully committed to safeguarding the interests of Goans and ensuring strong air connectivity across the State. Any speculation suggesting that consent has been given to discontinue civilian services at Dabolim has been termed incorrect and misleading.
Goa currently operates a dual-airport system, with services functioning at both Dabolim and Manohar International Airport. The Government noted that this dual infrastructure strengthens the State’s aviation capacity and enhances convenience for residents and visitors alike.
Urging the public not to be misled by unfounded claims, the Government reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, development, and the continued growth of Goa’s aviation and tourism sectors.
