PANAJI: In a significant administrative move, the Goa government has ordered the immediate discontinuation of fuel supply from the Government petrol bunk located at the Government Garage in Panaji.
The decision follows directives from competent authorities regarding the redevelopment of the garage premises by NBCC (India) Ltd.
All government departments that previously availed fuel from the said petrol bunk have been instructed to cease lifting fuel from the facility with immediate effect.
Instead, they are now required to procure fuel for official vehicles from Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) petrol and diesel stations across Goa that are equipped with automated billing systems.
The Finance Department has directed all concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply by coordinating directly with authorized PSU fuel stations.
Departments must also maintain accurate records of fuel consumption and ensure timely settlement of bills—mandated to be cleared within 30 days—to facilitate a smooth transition and continued cooperation with the private vendors.
The directive was issued by Under Secretary for Finance (Expenditure), Naresh Gaude, and comes with the approval of the Hon’ble Chief Minister and Finance Minister, vide U.O. No. 1479/F dated May 18, 2025.
The shift is seen as part of broader infrastructure redevelopment efforts and is aimed at modernizing administrative processes while ensuring efficiency in government operations.
