PANAJI: The State government has initiated the process of framing a Slum Rehabilitation Policy, with a survey already being conducted to identify slum settlements across Goa.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that under the proposed scheme, rehabilitation will be carried out through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, which will include the construction of housing units for those residing in slums.
Sawant clarified that beneficiaries covered under this upcoming policy will not be entitled to seek relief under the recently enacted legislations that allow regularisation of illegal houses or encroachments on government and comunidade land.
The policy, he added, is aimed at providing structured housing solutions while ensuring that rehabilitation remains distinct from land regularisation benefits.
