Panaji: In a major boost for medical professionals, the Government of Goa has enhanced the remuneration of Doctors and GARD doctors serving on contract at Goa Medical College (GMC), effective 1st January 2026. Along with this, a 5% annual increment has been approved going forward.
Speaking on the announcement, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said, “Our doctors are the backbone of Goa’s healthcare system. This decision reflects our commitment to valuing their tireless service, dedication, and sacrifice. We want to ensure that those who care for society are themselves cared for and encouraged to continue providing the highest standards of patient care.”
The step underscores the state government’s focus on strengthening Goa’s healthcare ecosystem and building a resilient, responsive, and people-centric system.
The initiative has been welcomed as a significant boost to the morale of medical professionals in the state.
The Health Minister also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant for his guidance and support in ensuring the welfare of healthcare workers.
