PANAJI: Archaeology Minister Subhash Phal Dessai said that the department has sites initiated a process to demarcate the protected areas with the help of DSLR.
“Department has sites initiated a process to demarcate the protected areas with the help of DSLR. A proposal to install CCTV on some protected sites is initiated. Security guards are posted on all sites through GHRDC,” said Phaldessai.
He further said that providing Drinking water facilities at the protected sites is under consideration.
“Parking areas, drainage sites, etc are developed as part of the restoration work at the Sites on the basis of site-specific needs,” he added.
The Minister said that inspection reports are prepared for inspections done for ongoing restoration works.
On restoration works, Minister said that the original are stones re-used mostly during the restoration process, however so, where the existing stones are in deteriorated conditions then such stones are not preserved with the exception of stones having a value of archaeological significance and worthy of preservation.
“New stones are used to replace unusable old stones from structures. In the process of restoration works lime concrete is used in the study of the existing structure,” he added.
