MARGAO: New guidelines have been released by the Department of Environment and Climate Change to address Goa’s noise pollution issues, specifically with relation to sound permits for the hours of 10 p.m. to 12 a.m.
According to the new regulation, public address systems and loudspeakers will only be allowed to be used during these hours on specific days, with permissions being granted on an individual basis. Applications filed by individuals, municipal organizations, village panchayats, and other recognized State institutions are also included in this.
The agency emphasized how crucial it is to abide by the guidelines set forth in the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules of 2000. At approved events, such festivals, authorities will keep an eye on noise levels and take prompt action against any infractions.
Aiming to achieve a balance between joyous customs and the requirement for a quiet atmosphere at night, these guidelines are issued prior to the holiday season, which spans from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Eve.
