PANAJI: The Goa government has made it compulsory for all employees of government departments, semi-government bodies, and state-run corporations to participate in International Yoga Day celebrations on June 21.
Unlike previous years when participation was optional, this year’s observance will see mandatory attendance.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who presided over a planning meeting, announced that full participation is expected.
Beginning June 1, yoga sessions will be conducted within all departments. Employees who are unable to attend sessions at their workplace must join community sessions in their villages—such as those held in schools or temples—and submit a photograph as proof to their respective Heads of Department.
In addition, the government has directed all employees to register on the iGOT Karmayogi portal under the Centre’s Mission Karmayogi initiative, which is aimed at improving the quality of public service.
Employees are also encouraged to complete the “Yoga at Workplace” certification course, which CM Sawant said would benefit both their physical health and work efficiency.
