Panaji: As part of its roadmap to become an AI-driven state under the Goa AI Mission 2027, the State government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Digital India Bhashini Division of the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) to integrate multilingual Artificial Intelligence tools into public systems, aiming to make governance more inclusive and citizen-friendly.
The MoU between the Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (DITE&C) and MeitY was formalised during the event ‘AI for Governance & Social Impact: Leveraging Technology for Inclusive, Responsible, and Sustainable Public Systems’, which brought together policymakers, academics and industry leaders to deliberate on the role of AI in strengthening participatory and sustainable governance.
Speaking at the event, IT Minister Rohan Khaunte said the government is prioritising capacity building and the adoption of ethical, human-centric AI. He stressed that the initiative is not about chasing technology trends but about translating innovation into real social impact.
On the MoU, Khaunte said Goa’s approach goes beyond improving efficiency to fostering inclusivity, creativity, and long-term transformation. “Goa is ready to lead this change, with its spirit of innovation and resilience at the core of our digital journey,” he remarked.
The initiative positions Goa as a model for demonstrating how AI can be deployed responsibly to create transparent, accessible and sustainable governance frameworks while ensuring that every citizen has a place in the digital economy.
