PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that his government has planned to have 100% renewable energy by 2050 across all sectors while stating that the government has set a target of generating 150 megawatts of green energy in the next two years.
CM Pramod Sawant was addressing the CII Goa Conference on Clean Renewable Energy today in the capital.
“Government has planned to have 100% renewable energy by 2050 across all sectors while stating that government has set a target of generating 150 megawatts of green energy in the next two years along with the generation of 100 Megawatts of solar power generation,” said CM.
He further said that Goa has been at the forefront of implementing and promoting the uses of renewable energy.
“After collecting the data and holding numerous consultations with the stakeholders, the energy action plan for all sectors, i.e electricity, transport, agriculture, fisheries and industries, among other have been completed and will soon be adopted by the state,” he added.
Sawant said that these would create another 15,000 jobs, and it is a matter of fact that the state can produce 500 jobs annually exclusively for the solar and wind energy generation sectors.
“Renewable energy is an important source of power generation as we move towards Atamnirbhar Bharat and Swayampurna Goa,” he added.
Chief Minister also said that it was important for Goa Government to promote non-conventional and renewable energy sources through the awareness campaign, demonstrations and Government initiatives.
“VOur transition to clean energy is a huge economic opportunity for India as well as for the state like Goa, which is richly endowed with moderate climate and bright sunshine for almost 8 to 9 months in a year for generating solar power,” he said.
