PANAJI: The Goa government has officially amended the Goa State Civil Services (Retirement) Rules, 2000, increasing the retirement age to 62 years for officials holding the post of Chief Engineer and above in four major departments — Public Works Department (PWD), Drinking Water, Water Resources, and Electricity.
The change, notified on November 13, 2025, comes through the Goa State Civil Services (Retirement) (Sixth Amendment) Rules, 2025.
According to the notification, officials in these departments will retire at 62 only if no eligible candidate is available for promotion.
Once a candidate becomes eligible and is promoted to the post, the incumbent officer who has crossed 60 years of age must retire immediately upon the new candidate’s promotion.
The amendment aims to ensure continuity in key technical departments while maintaining promotional avenues for eligible officers.
The revised rules come into effect from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
