PANAJI: The State Board for Wildlife (SBWL), Goa, chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, convened a meeting in Panaji with Forest Minister ShLL Visrane, GFDC Chairman and MLA Dr. Ane, Chief Secretary, PCCF (Wildlife & Eco-tourism), senior officials, and other board members.
A key decision of the meeting was to enhance compensation for human–wildlife conflict cases, ensuring better support for affected families. Under the revised guidelines, compensation now stands at ₹15 lakh for loss of life, ₹7.5 lakh for permanent disability, ₹2 lakh for grievous injury or partial disability, and ₹50,000 for minor injuries.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the government remains committed to conserving wildlife while balancing developmental needs and safeguarding the welfare of citizens. The initiative aims to strengthen measures that protect both humans and wildlife, reflecting Goa’s continued focus on sustainable development.
