Panaji: The Goa government on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Goa Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing Board (GAPLM) and GMR Airport Limited, aimed at strengthening the state’s agricultural export ecosystem.
The MoU signing was chaired by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant at Mahalaxmi, Altinho in Panaji.
Under the agreement, a modern pack house and agri-logistics facility will be developed at Manohar International Airport, which will support grading, packaging and export of agricultural produce from Goa.
Speaking on the occasion, Sawant said the facility will help ensure that Goan produce meets Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) standards for export.
The Chief Minister said the initiative will improve market access for farmers and traders, reduce post-harvest losses and create new opportunities for agri-business in the state.
He added that the move reflects the government’s commitment to empowering farmers, increasing their income and strengthening the agricultural value chain under the vision of Swayampurna Goa.
